Review: Brenthaven Pro 12/15 Shoulder Case*
by Steve Becker

Company: Brenthaven
Contact: www.brenthaven.com
Price: $149.99 SRP

The Pro 12/15 is well made and includes many thoughtful details. For example, the outside of the bag includes a small strap for attaching a cell phone (or other small device), a strap that easily slides over the handle of a suitcase, and an unusually comfortable detachable and adjustable carrying strap.

The inside of the Pro 12/15 includes many nicely designed compartments that provide numerous spaces for storing accessories, documents, and other items that you may want to carry along with your computer. In fact, I don't recall having seen any other computer bag that has included so many useful and varied storage options in such a lightweight and compact design.

Additionally, the compartment for holding your computer is nicely padded and is very ease to access. With so many thoughtful elements included in the bag's design, the bag's shortcomings are especially striking.

For example, the bag's zippered compartments -- including the compartment for storing your computer -- don't include a mechanism for locking the compartments to discourage theft and keep prying eyes from your computer and your documents. (A possible workaround for the computer compartment is to use a lock that has a long and thin wired strap that can be threaded between the zipper and the loop that's used for attaching the bag's shoulder strap.)

Also, it would be nice to have at least one internal storage pocket that is zippered, and the holes in the netted pockets are on the large side and tend to snag the items that are stored in them.

Still, other than for the security issue, these are fairly minor items, and this is an excellent computer bag that with a little fine tuning will become an outstanding bag!

Pros: Nicely designed; high quality construction; lots of storage areas and pockets; computer compartment is nicely padded; comfortable and lightweight.

Cons: Zippers don't include a mechanism for locking external compartments; none of the internal compartments is zippered.

PrintMagic and MacMagic can more than double the life of your ink cartridges and let you save or print just the information that you want.

* Also available as the Pro 15.4/17 for larger computers (SRP is $179.95 for the larger bag)
