WebPrint Plus can be used with so many programs and provides you with so many options when gathering, saving, finding, editing, and printing information that I've decided to start putting together this collection of WebPrint Plus tips.
While WebPrint Plus is very flexible and very easy to use, some items mentioned in these tips may not have occurred to you or have been noticed by you. I hope these tips will provide you with new ideas for ways WebPrint Plus can improve your productivity when working with your Mac and provide you with some ways to enhance your use of WebPrint Plus.
Periodically, I'll update this page with new tips, and please feel free to send to me any tips you've discovered while working with WebPrint Plus that you would like to share with other users. steve_webprint@macease.com
Using WebPrint Plus 5.0 With Netscape 7 in the Classic Mac OS
You may sometimes find that WebPrint Plus reports no text is selected even though you have selected text to print. A quick and easy workaround is clicking once on the "Edit" menu to display it (this "unsticks" Netscape 7).
By the way, this info also applies to InfoManager 2.1 and PrintMagic 1.0 when they are used with Netscape 7.
When You Can't Select The Text On a Web Page
While this is not likely to happen very often, you may occasionally come across a web page that doesn't allow you to select the text that's on it. When this happens, use the view as source option in your web browser. (This is available under the "View" menu in both Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator.)
You should be able to highlight any text on the web page when viewing the page in the Source mode. When viewing the Source display, you will also see the HTML tags that are used by your web browser to format the web page. If you don't want to include these tags when either saving or printing information that's on the web page, use WebPrint's ability to gather non-contiguous selections when selecting the text that you do want.
Selecting Text In Your Web Browser
If you find that sometimes when you select text in your browser the text preceding your intended selection also gets selected, try selecting the text starting with the last item in your selection. In other words, start the selection with the last word you want to select and then drag your cursor toward the first word you want to select.
Special Feature Of The Iconified View
If you find yourself using a particular WebPrint Plus button more frequently than the others, WebPrint's Preferences allow you to set this button as the "default button."
Now whenever you command-click the iconified display, the default button's command will be executed.
