WebPrint Plus X

New 4.0 Version

Because of continuing interest in WebPrint Plus, I decided to reinstate development of the program.

WebPrint Plus has been extensively rewritten and updated, and it includes greatly improved graphics. Additionally, the Editor has been enhanced, URL stamps have been added when working with Safari and Firefox, new Clipboard tools have been added, and more.

MyMac.com gives WebPrint Plus X a perfect five-mice rating and says:
"You'll save time, money, paper, ink and most importantly frustration. WebPrint Plus X is one of those programs that once you use it once you'll wish you would've found it long ago."

"E/The Environmental Magazine" in its May/June 2004 issue says:
"...WebPrint Plus gives the user total control over the printing process, thus limiting the amount of toner and paper needed. The software saves you from printing useless images and unwanted text."

Inside Mac Radio selects WebPrint Plus

WebPrint Plus has established itself as one of the highest rated utilities for the Classic Macintosh operating system. WebPrint Plus for OS X builds upon the core features and reliability of the Classic version and includes many innovative and powerful new features. WebPrint Plus X works with virtually any program that lets you select text or images!

As with the Classic version, WebPrint Plus X allows you to collect, save, edit, index, or print just the part(s) of the document/web page that you need -- anything from a single character to multiple pages may be saved or printed. Even non-contiguous selections from within a document/web page or across multiple sources/web pages may be combined so they are grouped together. Further, on-the-fly notes and a time-date stamp can be added to your saved and printed text selections and images.

Students and researchers will find WebPrint Plus an invaluable aid, and virtually all Mac users will find it a great productivity booster when working with their Macs. Because using WebPrint Plus X substantially reduces your expenditures on ink/toner and paper, WebPrint Plus X can quickly pay for itself many times over!

The cost savings, productivity enhancements, and environmental benefits provided by using WebPrint Plus X are multiplied for schools, businesses, and other organizations that use many computers! (Special site license pricing is available.)

Additionally, WebPrint Plus X accelerates printing, eliminates browser printing problems, and even eliminates some problems users have experienced when using HP printers with OS X.

New in WebPrint Plus X 3.1

A few users had reported that under Panther WebPrint Plus X sometimes would not recognize their selections on the first try in some Apple programs such as Safari. WebPrint Plus X 3.1 incorporates new code that eliminates this rare problem.

WebPrint's contextual menu now also can be used to access WebPrint's preferences.

WebPrint's dialog boxes have been updated and they now provide additional information on using WebPrint Plus.

Some of the new features in WebPrint Plus X 3.0 are:

A system-wide keyboard shortcut (Option-Control-v) lets you instantly toggle the visibility of WebPrint Plus no matter what application you currently are working in.

An innovative Contextual Menu feature has been added that easily and instantly gives you access to WebPrint's powerful features and OS X enhancements -- even when WebPrint Plus is invisible -- no matter what program you are working in.

Unlike most contextual menus, WebPrint's contextual menu can be accessed when you are working in any program, can be left active when you move your cursor off of it, and can be dragged to any location on your display (it also includes additional innovative interface features).

There's a new preference option to automatically launch WebPrint Plus as an invisible background utility.

Additional new preference options have been added to let you further customize WebPrint's appearance and behavior.

A keyboard shortcut has been added that lets you instantly print the contents of the Clipboard no matter what program you are working in.

There have been many enhancements added to WebPrint's code and dialog boxes.

With WebPrint Plus X 3.0, innovative and powerful enhancements are added to OS X -- and to virtually all OS X applications -- that are easy to use and that don't require the use of valuable Desktop space.

Just some of the new features included in WebPrint Plus X 2.0 are:

The ability to instantly print or save selected graphic objects/pictures as well as text.

A new universal keyboard shortcut (Option-Control-s) is added to OS X for instantly saving selections of data/images of any size from virtually any application -- there's no need to waste time navigating Save or Save As dialog boxes. (This feature works even when WebPrint Plus is hidden from view or made invisible.)

A WebSaver feature has been added to WebPrint's small Desktop Printer. Simply drag-and-drop a selection of data or an image onto the small Desktop Printer's WebSaver icon and it's instantly saved to the ProjectBoard -- there's no need to waste time navigating Save or Save As dialog boxes.

WebPrint Plus supports adding on-the-fly time-date stamps and notes both to saved graphics/pictures and to printed graphics/pictures.

WebPrint's Desktop Printer feature now supports drag-and-drop printing of graphics/pictures.

WebPrint Plus provides unparalleled flexibility, ease of use, and savings when mining info from virtually anywhere -- including the Internet. WebPrint's editor has been greatly enhanced and now provides new and powerful tools for adding to and editing the info that you collect with WebPrint Plus. (The info saved by/created with WebPrint Plus is fully compatible with other programs and can be easily transferred to other programs.)

You now can use different preset colors for highlighting and quickly organizing sections of data or you can -- on the fly -- create your own custom highlight colors.

You now can use preset colors to color your text or you can create -- on the fly -- your own custom colors for text.

You now can set your own value for +/- vertical shifting of text or graphics.

You now can set your own values for paragraph indenting.

You now can see "invisible" formatting characters for easier manipulation of formatting properties.

You now have many new style-formatting tools available, including Strike.

You now have a multiple Undo/Redo feature.

You now have multiple alignment options available.

You now have new printing options available and the OS X Print Preview feature is supported.

The Editor has many more new features, including a multi-function Find tool.

WebPrint Plus X 2.0 also has added powerful yet easy-to-use enhancements to the OS X Clipboard.

Instantly save the contents of the Clipboard with a single click of your mouse -- there are no Save/Save As/Open dialog boxes to navigate or files to name. Effectively, this gives the Clipboard an unlimited capacity. (This feature also lets you edit the contents of the Clipboard using WebPrint's built-in text editor.)

Instantly print the contents of the Clipboard with a single mouse click.

Combined with the powerful feature set that's already available in the highly rated current version of WebPrint Plus, WebPrint Plus 2.0 literally sets new standards for user productivity while simultaneously and dramatically reducing expenditures on ink/toner and paper!

New in WebPrint Plus X 2.1

The ProjectBoard's Undo feature has been enhanced.

The possibility of a display issue with WebPrint's Windowshade feature has been removed (there were no reported cases of a problem).

A customizable Auto-Save feature has been added to the ProjectBoard.

The ProjectBoard's Vertical Shift button now can be used to fine tune the position of both text and images.

Numerous other enhancements have been added to WebPrint's code.

Here are just some of the other features included in WebPrint Plus X:

WebPrint Plus X adds a universal keyboard shortcut (Option-Control-p) to OS X for using your keyboard to print selected text or images in virtually any program. This feature works even when WebPrint Plus is configured to run as a Desktop Printer. (The keyboard shortcut can be turned on/off from the Prefs tab of the Tabbed Display.)

WebPrint Plus X can both save and print multi-styled and multi-colored text.

WebPrint Plus X adds a virtual Desktop Printer to OS X that supports drag-and-drop printing of clipping files.

WebPrint Plus X provides you with both a compact full-display window that can be windowshaded in stages and an ultra-compact Tabbed Display. One click of the mouse lets you instantly switch the display mode.

WebPrint Plus X can be configured to automatically open upon launch into either display mode or as a Desktop Printer that includes the WebSaver feature.

The WebPrint Plus X Add Note window that lets you add on-the-fly notes and comments (of any size) to both saved and printed selections also supports drag-and-drop. This lets you create notes by dragging and dropping both text selections and clipping files onto the note window (of course, you also can type notes directly into the window). Additionally, you can use drag-and-drop within the note to rearrange the contents of the note window, and you can drag selections from the window to your Desktop to create clipping files.

WebPrint Plus X can print/save information from many programs which they themselves can't print/save.

WebPrint Plus X stores your saved text and images in the ProjectBoard. This file can hold virtually an unlimited amount of data and its contents easily can be transferred to other programs via drag-and-drop.

You also can use the WebPrint Plus Copy button to instantly place the contents of the ProjectBoard on your system's Clipboard (you can do this even when the ProjectBoard is closed). This lets you quickly and easily paste the contents of the ProjectBoard into the program of your choice.

WebPrint Plus X includes a Quick Start Guide that's accessed from WebPrint's Help button. Also, the Tabbed Display includes several context-sensitve Help buttons .

WebPrint Plus X includes a Help Tag system that quickly can be turned on and off with a single click of your mouse. Just place your cursor over a button or heading and after a short delay a Help Tag for that item will appear. (If you are new to using WebPrint Plus, this is a fast and easy way to discover some of the flexibility and power that's built into WebPrint's features.)

And WebPrint Plus X includes many more features!
