|
While WebPrint's built-in Help files include some useful tips on using WebPrint Plus, the list of tips on this page is more extensive and can be quickly updated. Additionally, if any issues about using WebPrint Plus should arise, they will be posted to the "Troubleshooting WebPrint Plus" section at the end of this page.

General Info:
WebPrint Plus for Windows is designed to provide you with great flexibility when you work with it. You should feel free to be creative and use the combination of features that best fits the way you work.
For example, you are free to use any combination of WebPrint's buttons and interface options which you find best fit the way you work with our PC. Also, you are free to place information into both the PrintBoard and ProjectBoard and freely modify/add to/edit that information, as well as to drag-and-drop or copy and paste information between them.
WebPrint Plus works with most programs in which you can select text, including web browsers, AOL, email clients, Adobe Acrobat Reader, databases, news clients, word processors, chat clients, and text editors.
Many programs (including some parts of AOL) can't print/save some of the data that they display. If you can select the text, there's a good chance WebPrint Plus will be able to print/save this information.
If you can't print/save the information using one of WebPrint's Print/Save buttons, try dragging and dropping the selection onto WebPrint's small printer icon or either the PrintBoard or ProjectBoard.
If you find that sometimes
when you select text in your browser the text preceding your intended
selection also gets selected, try selecting the text starting with
the last item in your selection. In other words, start the selection
with the last word you want to select and then drag your cursor
toward the first word you want to select.
With some web browsers WebPrint Plus is able to automatically display
the full URL for saved links. To try this feature with your web
browser, open either the ProjectBoard or the PrintBoard and then drag
a selection of text into WebPrint Plus. If this feature is supported
with your browser, after each link's text you will see the link's URL
displayed within brackets. (If you don't need these links, you always
can delete them.)
When collecting non-contiguous data or data from
multiple sources/web pages, you can select and then drag this info
onto the PrintBoard so it's automatically grouped for printing or for
editing prior to printing (the PrintBoard supports direct typing of
notes into it and reorganizing its contents via
drag-and-drop).
Use this feature for doing virtually any kind of online work such as collecting movie times/theatre locations, collecting recipes, gathering online shopping info, doing work related research/projects, doing school work, and doing virtually any other kind of online research.
When collecting data that
you want to save or edit (including non-contiguous data and data from
multiple sources/web pages), you can select and then drag this info
into the ProjectBoard. As with the PrintBoard, this info is
automatically grouped together as you collect it, but the
ProjectBoard includes more extensive editing tools (including a Find
and a Find & Replace feature) and the ProjectBoard can save your
data for future use.
When you select text in a program and use any of WebPrint's Save buttons, the data automatically gets added to the closed ProjectBoard.
If you want to include the URL of the web page you're printing/saving
info from along with your selected text when using WebPrint's Print
and Save buttons, just use WebPrint's Note feature. By dragging and
dropping, copying and pasting, or typing the URL into the note, you
can print/save the URL along with your text selection.
When dragging selected text directly into either the PrintBoard or the ProjectBoard, you also can drag/copy and paste/ type URLs you want to print/save into the PrintBoard/ProjectBoard.
WebPrint's interface has been designed to be as small as possible, since it often will be used in conjunction with other programs and -- should you choose -- often will be running in the background. WebPrint Plus also has been designed so you can keep it invisible when you are not actually using it.
All three of WebPrint's interfaces (Full, Tabbed, Desktop Printer) can be minimized so they don't take up any Desktop space (are invisible when not being used) but instantly can be accessed through the Task Bar.
Please note: In some programs (this doesn't apply to web browsers or
other programs in which you can't delete text) you should hold down
the Control key (or the equivalent mouse button) while dragging a
selection to the PrintBoard. Otherwise, Windows may remove the
dragged text from your source when it places it on the
PrintBoard.
However, if this should ever happen, it's easy to fix. If the program that contains your source data has an "Undo" feature just select it, or try typing Control-z. If this doesn't work, you always can copy and paste (or drag) the text from the PrintBoard back to your source.
If you decide you want to save the information that you've placed on
the PrintBoard, this is easy to do. Just select the text you want to
save, and then add it to the ProjectBoard using one of the "Save
Selection" buttons that are on WebPrint's display. You also can open
the ProjectBoard's window and then drag or copy and paste your
selected text into the ProjectBoard.
It's extremenly easy and fast to add
information to the PrintBoard: you can use any combination of
drag-and-drop, copy and paste, and typing to place info on the
PrintBoard.
You are able to combine non-contiguous selections from any
combination of source documents/web pages simply by selecting them
one at a time and placing them on the PrintBoard. Once the selections
are on the PrintBoard, you can drag-and-drop or copy and paste them
to reorganize/reposition them.
You can add multiple selections to the PrintBoard from a web
page/application/document or from any combination of web
pages/applications/documents.
You no longer need to print entire web
pages, documents, digests, or emails when you want to print just part
of their contents -- drag or copy and paste just the data you want to
print to the PrintBoard.
You eliminate wasting time looking for important data that's
surrounded by unnecesarry text -- by not printing unnecessary text,
the PrintBoard lets you focus on just what's
important.
You save a significant amount of money by using Webprint's PrintBoard
because it dramatically reduces the amount of ink/toner and paper you
use.
WebPrint's ProjectBoard is a powerful and flexible tool for saving,
creating, and editing information. The ProjectBoard gives you the
ability to save just the information you want from virtually any
program, and the ProjectBoard lets you do this even while the
ProjectBoard is closed by using any of WebPrint's Save
buttons.
Additionally, WebPrint's ProjectBoard lets you clear its contents,
print its contents, and even transfer its contents to other programs
while it's closed. You can save information to the ProjectBoard when
it's open via drag-and-drop (from programs that support this
feature), via copy & paste, and via typing info directly into the
ProjectBoard.
When you use WebPrint's WebSaver feaure, your saved data is placed in
the closed ProjectBoard. No matter which method you use to place
information onto the ProjectBoard, the data gets added to any
pre-exisitng info that's on the ProjectBoard, so you don't have to
worry about overwriting the data you've saved to the
ProjectBoard.
When gathering information for any reason whether it be for school,
home, business, or personal purposes, use the ProjectBoard to collect
your data and filter out irrelevant information.
When you have to access multiple web pages, documents, or programs to
collect information, use the ProjectBoard as an easy-to-access and
always-available central location to place/store your data -- with
the ProjectBoard there is no need having to spend time navigating
Open/Save/Save As dialog boxes.
When you need to save non-contiguous information, use the
ProjectBoard as a fast and easy-to-access tool for collecting and
grouping your data.
Use the ProjectBoard's built-in editor as a fast and handy way to
edit/add to the content of any info you have saved.
Use the ProjectBoard to instantly print your saved data -- even when
the ProjectBoard is closed.
Use the ProjectBoard to instantly transfer your saved/editied info to
other programs via the Clipboard (even while the ProjectBoard is
closed) or via drag-and-drop.
Use the ProjectBoard to store the contents of the PrintBoard if you
ever want to save this info.
The ProjectBoard (and Webprint Plus) can be minimized and accessed
from the task Bar.
Use WebPrint Plus Often to Maximize Your Savings:
When printing from any application, WebPrint Plus can save you money by greatly reducing the amount of ink/toner and paper that's used. When printing from the web, WebPrint Plus saves you even more money by also filtering out ink-intensive graphics and web adds.
Additionally, WebPrint Plus works with your printer's economy settings to further reduce the amount of ink/toner that's being used.
Use WebPrint Plus to Improve Your Productivity:
By using WebPrint Plus, you prevent wasting valuable time sifting through unnecessary data that previously you were forced to print/save.
By using WebPrint's time-date stamp, you will always know when you printed/saved your information, how current it is, and the chronology when printing/saving multiple versions of a document/selection.
By using WebPrint's note feature, you'll never find yourself wasting time trying to remember why you've printed/saved something. Additionally, you can use this feature to add useful information (of virtually any size) next to the data to which it applies.
When using WebPrint Plus, you'll find that the real-world speed of your printer has been significantly improved.
Not Being Able to Print/Save Selected Text:
If this happens at all, it's probably a rare occurrence. While it's possible WebPrint Plus doesn't work with the program you are trying to print/save from, it's more likely the problem is caused by a temporary glitch.
If you have selected text in a program and WebPrint Plus brings up a dialog box telling you that either you have not selected any text or you are about to print/save the same selection again (when this is not the case), try any combination of the following workarounds:
1. Make sure the text you want to print/save is still selected, and then try to print/save the selection a second time (or third time, if necessary).
2. Try printing/saving the selection using a different WebPrint Plus button.
3. Try printing/saving the selection either by dragging and dropping the selection onto the WebPrint Plus button that has the small printer icon or the open PrintBoard or ProjectBoard window.
3. Try quitting and relauching the application you are trying to print from.
4. Try quitting and relaunching WebPrint Plus.
Dragged And Dropped Text Disappearing From Your Source:
In some programs (this doesn't apply to web browsers or other programs in which you can't delete text) you should hold down the Control key (or the equivalent mouse button) while dragging a selection to the PrintBoard/ProjectBoard. Otherwise, Windows may remove the dragged text from your source when it places it on the PrintBoard/ProjectBoard.
However, if this should ever happen, it's easy to fix. If the program that contains your source data has an "Undo" feature just select it, or try typing Control-z. If this doesn't work, you always can copy and paste (or drag) the text from the PrintBoard/ProjectBoard back to your source document.
