Option-selecting "Desktop" in the Select Window button closes all Finder windows.

Selecting a windowshaded window in the Select Window button expands the window and makes it active. 

Clicking on the Expand Windows button instantly expands all windowshaded windows. 

The Hide/Show Apps button toggles the appearance of windows from open applications. (This instantly prevents these windows from interfering with your view of the Desktop.)
